Technician Safety Information

GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
- Wear appropriate eye protection.
- Block the drive wheels before servicing vehicle with wheels on the ground.
- Support vehicle with jackstands when working under vehicle--never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack.
- Raise car on a flat, level, hard surface.
- Use caution when working near the catalytic converter--to prevent burns.
- Exercise care when working with spring or tension loaded fasteners--E-clips, snap rings, etc--careless removal can cause personal injury.

FLOODED ENGINE PRECAUTIONS
- Keep all flames, sparks and high heat sources away from flooded engines.
- Drain oil contaminated with fuel, in a well ventilated area.
- When cranking a flooded engine--with the spark plugs removed--disable the ignition system. This prevents ignition of raw fuel--sprayed from the spark plug holes.

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

NOTE: The following applies to airbag equipped vehicles only.

WARNING: Activation of an airbag--due to improper removal, handling or installation of airbag--can lead to serious personal injury.

Do not use electrical test equipment on SRS circuits.
- All SRS wiring harnesses have yellow insulation.
- SRS related components are located in the steering column, center console, dash, and front fenders.
