Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

Ignition Cable: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION
Check the high-tension cable connections for good contact at the ignition coil, distributor cap towers and spark plugs. Terminals should be fully seated.

The terminals and covers should be in good condition. Terminals should fit tightly to the ignition coil, distributor cap, and spark plugs. The cover (boot) of the cable should fit tight at the coil tower, distributor tower or spark plug insulator.

NOTE: Loose cable connections can cause corrosion and increase resistance resulting in shorter cable service life. To maintain proper sealing at terminal connections, do not disconnect cables. This should only be done when testing.

Clean high tension cables with a cloth moistened with a nonflammable solvent and wipe dry. Check for brittle or cracked insulation.
