Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Remove caliper assembly as outlined under "Caliper Service."

Fig. 5 Outboard Pad Removal:

2. Remove outboard pad by prying between the pad and the caliper fingers, as flanges on outboard pad retain caliper firmly. Caliper should be supported to avoid damage to flexible brake hose.

3. Remove inboard brake pad from the adapter.

INSTALLATION
Remove approximately 1/3 of the brake fluid from the reservoir to prevent overflow when pistons are pushed back into their bores.

1. With care, push piston back into bore until bottomed.

2. Install new outboard pad in recess of caliper. No free play should exist between brake pad flanges and caliper fingers.

Fig. 3 Outboard Pad Retaining Flange Orientation:

If up and down movement of pad is evident, pad must be removed and flanges bent to provide a slight interference fit. Reinstall pad after modification.

Fig. 7 Outboard Pad Installation Using C-clamp:

If pad cannot be snapped easily into place, use light "C" clamp pressure.

3. Position inboard pad with flanges inserted in adapter "ways".
4. Carefully slide caliper assembly into adapter and over the disc while aligning caliper on machined "ways" of adapter. Ensure dust boot is not pulled out from groove when piston and boot slide over the inboard pad.

5. Install anti-rattle springs, retaining clips and retaining screws. The inboard pad anti-rattle spring is to be installed on top of the retainer spring plate.
