DISCUSSION:

Vehicles equipped with an AM/FM/Cassette (RAS) radio may enter the cassette play mode (without a cassette being inserted) before or during vehicle Road Ready.

This "auto load" condition can occur if the ignition switch is in the "ON" or "ACCESSORY" position when the Ignition Off Draw (IOD) fuse is installed. The "auto load" condition will be indicated by the cassette symbol being illuminated in the radio's display when it is turned "ON".

This condition can be corrected by pressing the Eject button. The "auto load" condition will not occur again as long as the IOD fuse remains installed.

NOTE:
THE CASSETTE PLAYER MECHANISM WILL JAM IF A TAPE IS FULLY INSERTED WHILE THE RADIO IS IN THIS CONDITION AND MAY NEED TO BE SENT TO A SERVICE CENTER FOR EXCHANGE/REPAIR. INSTALLING THE IOD FUSE WHILE THE IGNITION SWITCH IS IN THE "OFF" POSITION WILL PREVENT THIS CONDITION FROM OCCURRING. PLEASE ADVISE VEHICLE OPERATORS OF THIS INFORMATION.
