THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT ON OR AFTER NOV. 6, 1996 (MDH llO6XX).

DISCUSSION:

1997 NS vehicles built on or after Nov. 6, 1996 (MDH 1106XX) have two 1/4 in. foam pads attached to the top of the fuel tank, one at the front and one at the rear. In addition to the pads, the fuel tank mounting straps have spacers welded to the bolt attachment legs.

1997 St. Louis built vehicles (11th VIN Character "B") built on or after Nov. 26, 1996 (MDH 1126XX) have an additional 1/4 in. pad attached to the top front portion of the tank.

If a fuel tank must be replaced for any reason, tanks obtained through Mopar may not have the foam pads attached. Production style foam pads cannot be ordered through Mopar.

It is important when the fuel tank is replaced, either the pads attached to the original tank be re-used on the replacement tank or foam pad kit (from TSB 14-09-96), p/n 04886213AA be used.

NOTE:
BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL FUEL TANK MOUNTING STRAPS ON THESE VEHICLES HAVE WELDED ON SPACERS, PADS MUST BE IN PLACE AND ADDITIONAL SPACERS MUST NOT BE USED.

Fuel tank mounting straps with welded on spacers are available through Mopar, front strap, p/n 04809141AA, rear strap p/n 04809142AA.
