Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) System Service
Although natural gas vapors will disperse in open areas, the vapors may accumulate in an enclosed setting. To prevent explosion and fire, adequate ventilation and/or a natural gas detection system must be provided in areas which are routinely used for storage of CNG vehicles. If a system leak exists, do not bring the vehicle into an unventilated area. If long term storage is necessary, the manual shut off valve and each fuel control valve should be closed.Fuel system pressure must be released prior to servicing any fuel related component. However welding of fuel cylinders or any fuel system components should never be attempted. If fuel cylinder outer composite covering exhibits signs of damage such as cuts, fraying or unraveling, do not refill cylinder until outer covering has been replaced.
If a CNG vehicle has been involved in an accident, the fuel system should be fully inspected and pressure tested.
