Valve Cover: Service and Repair
REMOVALWARNING: Do not start or run engine with cylinder head cover removed from the engine. Damage or personal injury may occur.
1. Remove air cleaner assembly and upper intake manifold plenum.
2. Cover lower intake manifold with a suitable cover during service.

3. Disconnect electrical connectors and remove ignition coils.
4. Remove cylinder head cover bolts and remove
INSTALLATION
Figure 36 Cylinder Head Cover Gasket And Spark Plug Tube Seals:
1. Clean cylinder head and cover mating surfaces. Inspect and replace gasket and seals as necessary.
2. To replace spark plug tube seals:
a. Using a pry tool, carefully remove tube seals.
b. Position new seal so that part number on seal faces bottom of cover.

c. Install seals with Special Tool MB-998306.

3. Install cylinder head cover bolts and tighten to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.).
4. Install ignition coils and connect all electrical connectors.
5. Install upper intake plenum and air cleaner assembly.
