Park Brake Handle - Doesn't Return to Rest Position

Park Brake Release Handle Does Not Fully Return To Rest Position
MODELS:

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLE BUILT BEFORE AUGUST 15, 1997 (MDH 0815XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The park brake release handle does not fully return to the "at rest" position after releasing the parking brake.
DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect the park brake release rod for a "red" type marker at the connection between the rod and park brake lever. If the park brake release rod has a "red" type marker at the connection, perform the following Repair Procedure. If there is not a "red" type marker at the connection between the rod and the park brake lever, further diagnosis will be required. Refer to the 1998 Ram Truck Service Manual (Publication No. 81-370-8108), pages 5-32 through 5-34 for information regarding park brake system service.
PARTS REQUIRED:
1 52009750AC Rod, Park Brake Release Lever
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves replacing the park brake release lever rod with a revised part.
1. Remove the clip closest to the park brake lever (orange clip) from the rod by pushing up on the flat portion of the clip.
2. Remove the clip connected to park brake release handle (black clip) from rod by pushing down on the flat portion of the clip.
3. Remove the release lever rod and discard the rod.
4. Install new release lever rod, p/n 52009750AC, by first attaching the non-painted end of the rod to the park brake handle and then snapping the clip into place.
5. Connect the other end of the rod to the park brake lever by pulling the park brake release lever forward until the rod can be installed back into the clip. Snap the clip into place.
