Instrument Panel Top Cover Replacement
REMOVAL
WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, REFER TO AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELTS/AIR BAGS BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle and place it on a work bench. Refer to: "Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators : Instrument Panel : Service and Repair" Service and Repair
3. Remove the cluster bezel from the instrument panel. Refer to: "Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators : Instrument Panel : Service and Repair" Service and Repair
4. Remove the passenger side airbag module from the instrument panel. Refer to: "Restraint System : Air Bag(s) Systems : Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming : Service and Repair" Service and Repair
5. Remove the screws that secure the perimeter of the instrument panel top cover to the instrument panel base, the defroster duct and the demister ducts.
6. Lift the top cover off of the instrument panel.
7. Reverse the removal procedures to install. Tighten. the mounting screws to 2.2 N.m (20 in. lbs.).
