Body - Gap and Flushness Requirements

NO: 23-55-97

GROUP: Body

DATE: Oct. 10, 1997

SUBJECT:
Body Gap And Flushness Requirements

MODELS:
1998, (BE) Ram Truck

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO QUAD CAB RAM TRUCKS.

DISCUSSION:

The information provides the designed intent for body gap and flushness requirements (Figure 1) between the front doors, rear cargo doors and the cab and the amount of under flushness for the rear cargo door vent window. Do not make any attempt to adjust the front or rear cargo doors or the rear cargo door vent window unless they exceed these specifications.

NOTE:
DESIGN INTENT FOR DOOR FLUSHNESS (BOTH FRONT AND CARGO DOORS) TO ROOF LINE WILL VARY BASED UPON WHERE THE MEASUREMENT IS TAKEN (SEE FIGURE 2) AND BOTH DOORS ARE OVERFLUSH TO THE ROOF LINE. ADDITIONALLY, THE CARGO DOOR VENT WINDOW WILL BE UNDERFLUSH TO THE BODY AT ALL MEASUREMENT POINTS.

Refer to the 1998 Ram Truck Service Manual (Publication No. 81-370-8108), page 23-66 for front or rear cargo door adjustments or page 23-43 for information regarding the cargo door vent window service.
