Repair Procedure

This bulletin involves cutting off a portion of the tailpipe spout and installing a tailpipe tip.

5.9L DIESEL ENGINE EXHAUST REPAIR PROCEDURE





1. Using the tailpipe spout that is on the vehicle, measure 70 mm (2.75 in.) from the 3 to 4 in. transition point towards the tailpipe spout end (Figure 1). Cut off the end of the tailpipe at that point.

2. Install tailpipe tip pin E0041686 onto the tailpipe. Ensure that the tailpipe tip is completely seated onto the tailpipe.





3. Orient the tip so that the end of the tip is directed towards the rear of the vehicle and is parallel to the ground as shown in Figure 2.

4. Secure the tailpipe tip with exhaust clamp p/n 52018532.

NOTE:
THE END OF THE CLAMP MUST FACE FORWARD IN THE VEHICLE AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2.

5.9L/8.0L GAS ENGINE EXHAUST REPAIR PROCEDURE





1. Using the tailpipe spout that is on the vehicle, measure 238 mm (9.37 in.) from the end of the top of the tailpipe (Figure 3). Cut off the end of the tailpipe at that point.

2. Install tailpipe tip p/n E0042760 onto the tailpipe. Ensure that the tailpipe tip is completely seated onto the tailpipe.





3. Orient the tip so that the end of the tip is directed towards the rear of the vehicle and is parallel to the ground as shown in Figure 4.

4. Secure the tailpipe tip with exhaust clamp pin 52018623.

NOTE:
THE END OF THE CLAMP MUST FACE FORWARD IN THE VEHICLE AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2.
