General Diagnostic Information

This information is necessary to diagnose the antilock brake system. Specifically, it should be used to help diagnose conditions which result in any of the following:
1. amber ABS warning lamp turned on.
2. brakes lock-up on hard application.

Diagnosis of base brake conditions that are obviously mechanical in nature should be repaired first.

Many ABS conditions judged to be a problem by the driver may be normal operating conditions. See ABS OPERATION in the DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION to become familiarized with the normal characteristics of this antilock brake system.
