SAFETY RECALL TO INSTALL "DRL" IDENTIFICATION LABELS

Dear DaimlerChrysler Minivan Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

DaimlerChrysler Corporation has determined that some 1999 Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan and Plymouth Voyager/Grand Voyager minivans equipped with Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 - Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment.

The problem is...

Your minivan (identified on the enclosed form) uses the turn signal bulbs for daytime running lamps and does not have the lenses marked "DRL" as required by FMVSS No. 108.

What you must do to ensure your vehicle is in compliance...

We ask that you apply the enclosed DRL labels in the proper location on both headlamp assemblies on your vehicle. Please refer to the label installation instructions on the reverse side of this letter.

If you prefer not to install the labels yourself simply contact your dealer to schedule a service appointment. The label installation will only take a few minutes; however, additional time may be necessary depending on how dealer appointments are scheduled and processed This service will be provided free of charge. Please bring the enclosed DRL labels and Owner Notification Form with you to your dealer. The form identifies the required service to the dealer.

A representative will assist you in getting your vehicle serviced. If your dealer fails or is unable to remedy this noncompliance without charge and within a reasonable time, you may submit a written complaint to the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 400 Seventh Street, S.W., Washington, DC 20590, or call the Toll Free Auto Safety Hotline at 1-800-424-9393.
