Alternator Belt

Release Belt Tensioner-3.0L:

The Poly-V generator/power steering pump belt is provided with a dynamic tensioner to maintain proper belt tension.

REMOVAL

WARNING: DO NOT ALLOW DRIVE BELT TENSIONER TO SNAP BACK, AS DAMAGE TO TENSIONER AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY COULD RESULT.

1. Remove air conditioning belt.
2. Apply a force in a clockwise direction to the tensioner pulley bolt.
3. Remove belt.

INSTALLATION
1. Install belt over all pulleys, except for the tensioner pulley. Refer to illustration for belt routing.
2. Apply a force in a clockwise direction to the tensioner pulley bolt.
3. While holding tensioner, position belt over tensioner pulley.
4. Slowly release force on tensioner.
5. Verify belt is properly routed and engaged on all pulleys.
6. Install air conditioning belt.
