Antilock System Identification

SYSTEM COVERAGE
There are two systems used on these trucks: Kelsey-Hayes EBC 2 and EBC 325 System. These systems are used on 1999 Dodge Ram Van/Wagon (AB). EBC 325 is a four wheel antilock braking system. EBC 2 is a two wheel rear wheel antilock braking system.

IDENTIFICATION OF SYSTEM
Vehicles equipped with the EBC 2 system can be identified by the presence of a separate rear hydraulic control unit (HCU). The HCU is used to control hydraulic pressure to the REAR brakes during antilock braking. The HCU is controlled by a controller antilock brake (CAB) mounted beside the HCU. The and CAB are mounted on one bracket.

The EBC 325 system can be identified by the presence of the controller antilock brake (CAB) located directly on the HCU. This system uses one HCU to control the front and rear brakes. All of these components are mounted under the hood in close proximity to the master cylinder. The EBC 325 system will have a separate front wheel speed sensor wiring connector connected to the CAB.
