Water Pump Replacement
REMOVAL1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove the accessory drive belt.
4. Remove the bolts attaching power steering oil cooler to front crossmember and set the cooler aside.
5. Remove the lower radiator and coolant return hoses at the water pump.
6. Remove the crankshaft pulley and disconnect camshaft position sensor electrical connector.
7. Remove the water pump pulley attaching bolts. The pulley is removed with the water pump.
Water Pump:
8. Remove the water pump mounting screws. Remove the water pump.
NOTE: The water pump is removed between the front upper crossmember and power steering gear.
9. Remove and discard the water pump gasket.
10. Clean gasket surfaces on the water pump and chain case cover. Take care not to scratch or gouge sealing surface.
INSTALLATION
Water Pump Body And Gasket:
1. Install a new water pump gasket.
2. The water pump pulley must be positioned (but not attached) on pump before water pump is installed to chain case cover. Install pump to chain case cover. Tighten screws to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
3. Rotate the water pump by hand to check for freedom of movement.
4. Position the pulley on water pump. Install screws and tighten to 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.).
5. Install the crankshaft pulley and tighten attaching bolts to 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.).
6. Connect the camshaft position sensor electrical connector.
7. Install the lower radiator and coolant return hoses.
8. Attach power steering oil cooler to front crossmember.
9. Install the accessory drive belt.
10. Install the air cleaner assembly.
11. Refill the Cooling System.
