Recommended Lubricant

Vehicle design limits the amount of cooling air flow to the Viper rear axle. This limited air flow combined with high-performance operation causes temperatures within the axle to easily reach as high as 300°F (149°C). Conventional petroleum based axle lubricants are proven to break down under these conditions, causing excessive wear, noise, and premature axle failure. Only synthetic axle lubricant provides optimum protection and durability under extreme temperatures.

The lubricant recommended for this differential is Mopar(R), Synthetic Gear & Axle Lubricant 75W-140 (MS-8985). A container of Mopar(R) Limited Slip Additive (MS-5630) should also be added during a lubricant change.

CAUTION: The Use Of Petroleum Based Rear Axle Lubricants May Cause Premature Axle Failure.

Refer to Maintenance or the vehicle owner's manual for recommended maintenance intervals.
