Valve Cover: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
(1) Disconnect closed ventilation system and evaporation control system from cylinder head covers.
(2) Disconnect spark plug wires from cylinder head covers. Remove ignition cable separators and water tubes from valve covers.

(3) Remove fasteners from cylinder head covers and remove from the engine (Fig. 56).

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Remove all gasket material from cylinder head and cover using a plastic gasket scraper. This will prevent damage to either the head or the cover.

(1) Place cylinder head cover gasket onto the cylinder head. Install cylinder head cover onto the cylinder head and tighten fasteners to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.) in sequence shown in (Fig. 57).
(2) Install closed ventilation system and evaporation control system to cylinder head cover.
(3) Install spark plug wires onto their correct position.
