General Diagnosis Information

Unless the cause of a clutch problem is extremely obvious, accurate problem diagnosis will require a road test.

Drive the vehicle at normal speeds during the road test. Shift the transmission through all gears and observe clutch action. If slip, grab, chatter or improper clutch action is experienced, remove and inspect the clutch components. But if the problem is noise or hard shifting, further diagnosis may be needed. The transmission or other driveline component may be at fault.
