PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove seat and place upside-down on a clean surface with seat riser facing up.
2. Insert a suitable tool between the seat riser and the seat release shaft to prevent damage to the release shaft bushings (Fig. 1).
3. Use a hammer and a 5 mm punch to remove the roll pin from the seat release shaft (Fig. 2). On some seats, the roll pin may need to be ground off to allow clearance for removal.
4. Remove the seat release shaft by sliding it out of the cross-tube through the side of the seat riser.
5. Align the new seat release handle to the end of the shaft and install the screw. Make sure the handle is installed in the proper alignment slots of the shaft, and do not force the handle onto the shaft.
6. Slide the new seat release shaft into the cross tube and align the roll pin holes of the cross tube and seat release shaft.
7. Insert a suitable tool between the seat riser and the seat release shaft to prevent damage to the release shaft bushings.
8. Use a hammer to install the roll pin into the seat release shaft, making sure the roll pin extends through the entire shaft (Fig. 3).
9. Repeat these steps on other seats, if required.
10. Install seat(s) into vehicle.
