Tail Lamp Loose

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing a J-clip on the tail lamp mounting tab.

MODELS:

2001 - 2002 (RS) Town & Country/Caravan/Voyager

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Tail lamp is loose in its mounting.

DIAGNOSIS:

Apply and release hand pressure to the forward end of each tail lamp. If either tail lamp is loose, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

THIS REPAIR IS COMPATIBLE WITH DAIMLERCHRYSLER'S MOBILE SERVICE PROGRAM AND DOES NOT REQUIRE HOISTS OR OTHER FULL SERVICE FACILITY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT.

1. Raise the liftgate.

2. Remove the two tail lamp retaining fasteners by prying under the head of the fastener with a flat bladed tool.

3. Disengage front mounting tab attaching forward end of lamp to quarter panel opening.





4. Attach the J-clip to the mounting tab with the longer end of the J-clip towards the outside of the vehicle (Fig. 1). Ensure that the J-clip is fully seated.

5. Engage mounting tab of tail lamp into quarter panel opening.

6. Insert the two retaining fasteners by pressing into position. Ensure the head of the fastener is open before inserting.

7. Perform steps 2 through 6 on the other tail lamp.
