Body Control Module - Police Vehicle 'Stealth' Mode

NUMBER: 08-022-02

GROUP: Electrical

DATE: Oct. 14, 2002

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING PROVIDED IN ADVANCE. THE MDS2 MUST BE OPERATING WITH CIS/ISIS CD2120 OR HIGHER AVAILABLE NOV. 11, 2002.

SUBJECT:
Police Vehicle Body Control Module (BCM)

MODELS:
2002 - 2003 (LH) Intrepid (Police Vehicles)

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO POLICE VEHICLES (SALES CODE AHB) AND EQUIPPED WITH "STEALTH" MODE.

DISCUSSION:
Some police vehicles use the same headlamp switch as a civilian Intrepid vehicles equipped with auto-headlamps and fog lamps. In police vehicle applications equipped with an auto-headlamp switch, the AUTO position of the headlamp switch causes all exterior lighting to be turned off and pulling the headlamp switch knob out (fog lamp ON position) causes the interior lights to dim to a minimum level. These police vehicle illumination "stealth" mode functions are enabled through unique BCM software.

If it is ever necessary to replace a BCM on a police vehicle equipped with "stealth" mode, the replacement BCM must be flash programmed to enable the vehicle illumination "stealth" mode. The MDS2 must be operating with CIS/ISIS CD2120 or higher.

NOTE:
THIS BCM FLASH PROGRAMMING SHOULD NEVER BE PERFORMED ON A NON-POLICE VEHICLE.
