Center Mounted Brake Lamp: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

The CHMSL assembly is bonded to the roof with urethane.

CAUTION: Be careful not to damage painted surfaces when removing the housing.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the screws holding the lamp assembly to the housing.
3. Start at the upper left corner and working left to right, carefully trim the urethane between CHMSL housing and roof.
4. Separate the housing from the roof and disengage the harness connector.

INSTALLATION
The CHMSL assembly is bonded to the roof with urethane.

CAUTION: Be careful not to damage painted surfaces when removing the housing.

The roof and CHMSL housing should be cleaned of its old urethane bonding material.
1. Apply a 1/4 inch bead of urethane around the perimeter of the roof opening.
2. Connect harness connector.
3. Position the CHMSL housing over the roof depression and slowly lower the CHMSL housing onto the roof depression.
4. Clean excess urethane from exterior with Mopar Super Clean or equivalent.
5. Install the screws holding the lamp assembly to the housing.
6. Connect the battery negative cable.

NOTE: Allow the urethane a minimum of 4 hours to cure before returning the vehicle to use.
