Power Door Locks Do Not Unlock The Rear Doors
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing a new latch actuator rod retainer clip and sleeve.
MODELS:
2002 DR Ram Truck
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Rear power door locks may not unlock the rear doors when activated with the door lock switch or Remote Keyless Entry. The locks will function normally when operated manually.
DIAGNOSIS:
Operate the power door locks. it the rear door lock(s) is inoperative, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the inner door handle from the door.
2. Remove the door trim panel.
3. Disconnect the power window switch connector.
4. Remove the speaker.
5. Peel back the top half of the water shield.
6. Remove and discard the white retainer clip from the long horizontal latch actuator rod (Fig. 1).
7. Disconnect the latch actuator rod from the bellcrank (Fig. 1).
8. Slide the sleeve provided in the repair kit on to the latch actuator rod. (Fig. 1).
9. Connect the rod to the bellcrank.
10. Install the new retainer clip provided in the repair kit, over the sleeve and rod.
11. Re-apply the water shield.
12. Install the speaker.
13. Connect the power window switch harness connector to the switch.
14. Install the door trim panel.
15. Install the door handle.
