VIN Messages Mismatch (Stored)

Test 1:

SYMPTOM
VIN MESSAGE MISMATCH - STORED

TEST NOTE
This symptom is diagnosed using the test CLUSTER MESSAGE MISMATCH - STORED.

WHEN MONITORED
At ignition ON the ACM will compare the PCM bus message containing the body style to a stored ACM body style.

SET CONDITION
From the 7th character of the VIN the ACM determines the body style, BE or BR. BE body is identified as a 2 or 3 and a BR is identified as a 6. If the body styles are not the same the code will set.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Active or stored code present
- Stored code or intermittent condition
