Seats: Testing and Inspection
Before any testing of the power seat system is attempted, the battery should be fully-charged and all wire harness connections and pins cleaned and tightened to ensure proper continuity and grounds. For complete circuit descriptions and diagrams, refer to Wiring Diagrams.POWER SEAT INOPERATIONAL IN SOME POSITIONS
With the dome lamp ON, apply the power seat switch in the direction of the failure. If the dome lamp dims, the seat may be jamming. Check under and behind the seat for binding or obstructions. If the dome lamp does not dim, proceed with testing of the power seat switch, power seat track and individual circuits in the power seat system.
POWER SEAT INOPERATIONAL IN ALL POSITIONS
Check the power seat circuit breaker in the fuse- block module.
Find the power seat circuit breaker in the fuse- block. Pull the circuit breaker out slightly, but be sure that the circuit breaker terminals still contact the terminals in fuseblock.
Connect the ground wire of a voltmeter to a good ground. With probe of voltmeter positive wire, check both terminals of circuit breaker for battery voltage.
If only one terminal checks battery voltage the circuit breaker is defective and must be replaced.
If neither terminal shows battery voltage, check for open or shorted circuit to the circuit breaker.
If the circuit breaker checks OK, proceed with testing of the power seat switch, power seat track and the individual circuits in the power seat system.
