Fuel Cylinder Manual Control Valve (CNG): Service and Repair

REMOVAL

WARNING: THE FUEL CYLINDERS MAY BE UNDER VERY HIGH PRESSURE AND MUST BE EMPTIED OF ALL COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS (CNG) BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE ANY OF THE FUEL CYLINDER CONTROL VALVES.

To remove any of the 4 fuel control valve(s) (Fig. 20), the fuel cylinder(s) must be lowered. Refer to Fuel Cylinder Removal/Installation. Follow same procedures.
1. Lower rear fuel cylinder assembly, or, side mounted fuel cylinder assembly Refer to Fuel Cylinder Removal/Installation.
2. Disconnect fuel tube (line) at control valve. Clean area around fitting before removal.
3. Remove fuel control valve from cylinder (counterclockwise).

INSTALLATION

WARNING: THE FUEL CYLINDERS MAY BE UNDER VERY HIGH PRESSURE AND MUST BE EMPTIED OF ALL COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS (CNG) BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE ANY OF THE FUEL CYLINDER CONTROL VALVES.

1. Clean control valve. Apply Parker(TM) 0-Lube to new O-ring. Install new O-ring to valve.
2. Install fuel control valve into cylinder (clockwise). Tighten valve to 100 Nm (80 ft. lbs.) torque.

CAUTION: If fuel control valve did not return to its original horizontal/vertical position after tightening, fuel cylinder carrier bolts/nuts must be loosened and cylinder must be rotated in its carrier. Refer to Fuel Cylinder Removal/Installation.
