P1009
P1009-BRAKE FLUID LEVEL LOWFor the ABS circuit diagram refer to brakes, schematics and diagrams
^ When Monitored:
Continuous.
^ Set Condition:
Below normal voltage detected on the brake fluid level sensor circuit.
Possible Causes
LOW BRAKE FLUID
(B20) BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
DEFECTIVE SENSOR
Diagnostic Test
1. LOW BRAKE FLUID
Check the Brake fluid level.
Is the brake fluid full?
Yes >> Go To 2
No >> Fill the Brake fluid to proper level. Verification Tests
2. (B20) BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
Disconnect the Anti-Lock Brake Module (ABM)
Disconnect the Brake fluid level sensor harness connector.
Note: Check connector - Clean/repair as necessary. Measure the resistance of the Brake fluid level sensor switch sense circuit at the ABM harness connector to ground.
Is the resistance below 5 ohms?
Yes >> Repair the (B20) Brake fluid level switch sense circuit for a short to ground. Verification Tests
No >> Replace the Brake fluid level sensor. Verification Tests
