C1008 - BRAKE FLUID LEVEL INPUT CIRCUIT HIGH

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
When above normal voltage is detected on the Brake Fluid Level Switch Sense circuit.
DIAGNOSTIC TEST
1. CHECK FOR DTC C1008-BRAKE FLUID LEVEL INPUT CIRCUIT HIGH
NOTE: This DTC must be active for the results of this test to be valid.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, record and erase DTC's.
3. Cycle the ignition switch from off to on.
4. With the scan tool, read DTC's.
Does the scan tool display: C1008-BRAKE FLUID LEVEL INPUT CIRCUIT HIGH?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure.
- Perform ABS Verification Test-VER 1. Refer to ABS Verification Test
2. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR CONNECTION
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Inspect the connection of the Brake Fluid Level Sensor harness connector.
NOTE: Check all terminals for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.
Is there any damage?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform ABS Verification Test-VER 1. Refer to ABS Verification Test
No
- Go To 3
3. CHECK (B20) BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Anti-Lock Brake Module harness connector.
3. Disconnect the Brake Fluid Level Sensor harness connector.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. Measure the voltage between (B20) Brake Fluid Level Switch Sense circuit and ground.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the (B20) Brake Fluid Level Switch Sense circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform ABS Verification Test-VER 1. Refer to ABS Verification Test
No
- Go To 4
4. CHECK (B20) BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Anti-Lock Brake Module harness connector.
3. Disconnect the Brake Fluid Level Sensor harness connector.
4. Connect a jumper wire between the (B20) Brake Fluid Level Switch Sense and ground.
5. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the (B20) Brake Fluid Level Switch Sense circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 5.
No
- Repair the (B20) Brake Fluid Level Switch Sense circuit for an open.
- Perform ABS Verification Test-VER 1. Refer to ABS Verification Test
5. CHECK (Z420) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Brake Fluid Level Sensor harness connector.
3. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the (Z420) Ground circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Repair the (Z420) Ground circuit for an open.
- Perform ABS Verification Test-VER 1. Refer to ABS Verification Test
6. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR FOR AN OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Brake Fluid Level Sensor harness connector.
3. Measure the resistance between the Brake Fluid Level Sensor terminals.
Is the resistance above 11.0k ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Brake Fluid Level Sensor.
- Perform ABS Verification Test-VER 1. Refer to ABS Verification Test
No
- Replace the Anti-Lock Brake Module.
- Perform ABS Verification Test-VER 1. Refer to ABS Verification Test.
