Auxiliary Water Pump: Service and Repair
REMOVALCAUTION: DO NOT apply excessive pressure on the auxiliary water pump tubes when removing the heater hoses. Excessive pressure may damage the tubes, causing an engine coolant leak.
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine cooling system.
3. Remove the air cleaner housing from the right side of the engine compartment.
4. Using spring tension clamp pliers, compress and slide the hose clamps (1) off of the end of each heater hose.
5. Disconnect each heater hose (2) by carefully twisting the hose back and forth on the auxiliary water pump tube (3), while gently pulling it off of the tube.
6. Remove the auxiliary water pump (1) from the mounting bracket (2) located on the right front frame rail (3).
7. Disconnect the wire harness connector (4) from the auxiliary water pump and remove the pump from the engine compartment.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the auxiliary water pump (1) into the engine compartment and connect the wire harness connector (4) to the pump.
2. Install the auxiliary water pump onto the mounting bracket (2) located on the frame rail (3).
3. Using spring tension clamp pliers, compress and slide the hose clamp (1) away from the end of the heater hoses (2).
4. Install each heater hose by carefully twisting the hose back and forth onto the auxiliary water pump tubes (3), while gently pushing it onto the tube.
5. Using spring tension clamp pliers, compress and slide the hose clamps onto the end of the heater hoses.
6. Install the air cleaner housing to the right side of the engine compartment.
7. Refill the engine cooling system.
8. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
