Fuel Spit Back During Refueling Due To Inlet Check Valve (X48 Lifetime Warranty Extension)
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the fuel filler tube if the condition occurs.
NOTE:
When removing the existing fuel filler tube note how it comes out to aid in installation of the new part.
MODELS:
2005 - 2006 (HB) Durango
NOTE:
This Extended Warranty Bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a gasoline engine built between December 1, 2004 (MDH 1201XX) and January 31, 2006 (MDH0131XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may experience a fuel spit back condition during a refueling event.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer experiences the symptom/condition, proceed to the repair procedure.

NOTE:
When removing the existing fuel filler tube note how it comes out to aid in installation of the new part.
1. Hoist vehicle.
2. Remove Left rear wheel.
3. Remove the left quarter panel splash shield.
4. On new fuel filler tube verify and write down existing torque (Fig. 1).
NOTE:
It may be necessary to loosen the worm gear hose clamp and rotate to allow the fuel filler neck to fit between the body and frame. If clamp is loosened then once installed re-torque to noted value.
CAUTION:
Protect Paint and Quarter panel metal during removal and installation.
5. Replace the fuel filler tube, Following the detailed procedures found in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT Service Info > 14 - Fuel System > Fuel Delivery > Tube, Fuel Filler removal and installation procedures.
6. Install the left quarter panel splash shield. There are 4 or 5 plastic retaining rivets.
7. Install left rear wheel.
