Sunroof / Moonroof Module: Service and Repair




REMOVAL
1. Move glass panel to the fully closed position.
2. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
3. Remove headliner.





4. Remove the bolts (1 & 4) and remove the video display support bracket, if equipped.





5. Disconnect the four drain tubes (1) from sunroof housing.





6. Disconnect the sunroof wire harness (1) electrical connector (3) and (4).





7. Loosen fasteners (3) attaching sunroof assembly.
8. With the aid of a helper, support the sunroof and remove the fasteners attaching sunroof assembly (4) to roof panel (1).
9. Remove the sunroof (4) from vehicle.

INSTALLATION





1. Verify that U-nuts (1) are in position in the roof bow #2 (2).
2. Verify that glass panel is loose and slightly retracted.





3. Raise sunroof module assembly (4) and guide it carefully into position.

4. While supporting the sunroof assembly (1) start the 12 attaching screws, three along each side rail, two along the front trough and four along the motor bracket.
5. Locate the alignment holes along the sides of the module assembly and position the holes so that they line up with the holes located in the roof top support brackets.





6. Tighten the attaching screws to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.) using the sequence shown.





7. Remove the alignment tool (1) from the alignment holes (2).





8. Connect the electrical connector (4).





9. Connect the drain tubes to the sunroof (1).




10. Position the video display support bracket (2), if equipped, and install the bolts (1 & 4). Tighten the bolts to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.).
11. Connect battery negative cable.
12. Test sunroof operation, adjust if necessary.
13. Install headliner.
