FCM - Wiper Park Switch Input Performance:

WHEN MONITORED
With the ignition on

SET CONDITION
The FCM detects a performance condition on the BUS

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Wiper motor park switch ground circuit open
- Wiper motor
- Wiper park switch sense circuit short to voltage
- Wiper park switch sense circuit short to ground
- Wiper park switch sense circuit open
- Power distribution center
- Front control module

1. INTERMITTENT CONDITION

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII(R), clear all FCM DTC's.
Turn the Wipers ON then OFF.
With the DRBIII(R), read the DTC information.

Q: Does the DRBIII(R) read: Wiper Park Switch Input Performance?

YES: Go To 2
NO: The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

2. WIPER MOTOR PARK SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Wiper Motor harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Wiper Motor Park Switch Ground circuit.

Q: Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?

YES: Repair the Wiper Motor Park Switch Ground circuit for an open. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Go To 3

3. WIPER MOTOR
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Wiper Motor harness connector.
Measure the internal resistance of the Wiper Motor between terminal pin 2 and pin 3.

Q: Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?

YES: Replace the Wiper Motor - Front. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Go To 4

4. WIPER PARK SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the IPM C4 harness connector.
Disconnect the Wiper Motor harness connector.
Measure the voltage between the Wiper Park Switch Sense circuit and ground.
Q: Is there any voltage present?

YES: Repair the Wiper Park Switch Sense circuit for a short to voltage. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Go To 5

5. WIPER PARK SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the IPM C4 harness connector.
Disconnect the Wiper Motor harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Wiper Park Switch Sense circuit.

Q: Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

YES: Repair the Wiper Park Switch Sense circuit for a short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Go To 6

6. WIPER PARK SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the IPM C4 harness connector.
Disconnect the Wiper Motor harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Wiper Park Switch Sense circuit.

Q: Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?

YES: Repair the Wiper Park Switch Sense circuit for an open. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Go To 7

7. POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER
Turn the ignition off.
Remove the FCM from the IPM.
Disconnect the IPM C4 harness connector.
Measure the internal resistance of the Wiper Park Switch Sense circuit.

Q: Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?

YES: Replace the Power Distribution Center (PDC). Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Replace the Front Control Module (FCM). Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
