MIC-Cargo Lamp Output Circuit Shorted or Open

MIC-CARGO LAMP OUTPUT CIRCUIT SHORTED OR OPEN

MIC - Cargo Lamp Output Circuit Shorted Or Open:





WHEN MONITORED
With the ignition on

SET CONDITION
The CCN detects a short condition

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Headlamp switch
- Cargo lamp output circuit short to ground
- Instrument cluster

1. INTERMITTENT CONDITION




Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII(R), clear all MIC DTC's.
Turn the Cargo Lamps on.
With the DRBIII(R), read the DTC information.

Q: Does the DRBIII(R) read: Cargo Lamp Output Circuit Short/Open?

YES: Go To 2
NO: The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

2. HEADLAMP SWITCH
Disconnect the Headlamp Switch connector.
Turn the ignition on.

Q: Does the DRBIII(R) display Headlamp Switch 5.0 volts?

YES: Replace the Headlamp Switch. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Go to 3

3. CARGO LAMP OUTPUT CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND




Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Headlamp Switch connector.
Disconnect the Instrument Cluster C1 connector.
Measure the resistance of the Cargo Lamp Output circuit to ground.

Q: Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

YES: Repair the Cargo Lamp Output circuit. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Replace the Instrument Cluster. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
