Deck Lid Closing Effort

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves reducing the height of the trunk flange that the trunk weatherstrip mounts on.

MODELS:

2003 - 2005 (ZB) Viper SRT10

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Deck lid is difficult to close.

DIAGNOSIS:

The deck lid should close from a maximum height of 400 mm (16 in.), without over slam.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:





1. Remove trunk weatherstrip along the forward mounting flange (Fig. 1).

2. Mark the inboard edge of the forward trunk weatherstrip mounting flange with masking tape to outline the material to be removed, 3 mm (0.118 in.) at the center of the flange and reduce to zero toward the outboard ends of the flange as illustrated, (Fig. 1).

3. Reduce the forward trunk weatherstrip mounting flange height by filing/grinding away material along the edge of the tape placed in step 2.

4. Remove the masking tape.

5. Clean (vacuum) the area of all debris.

6. Install trunk weatherstrip.

7. Close the deck lid and check the effort required.

8. Adjust deck lid latch striker down as necessary, 2mm (0.079 in.) maximum. Torque the latch striker bolts to l2Nm (105 in. lbs.).
