Interior - Load Floor Locking Mechanism Won't Hold

SUBJECT:
Load Floor Door Hinge Locking Mechanism May Not Hold

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing both middle load floor doors.

MODELS:

2006 RS Town & Country/Caravan

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with Stow N Go seating (sales codes CYC, CYV, or CYY) built on or before August 12, 2005 (MDH 0812XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The load floor door hinge locking mechanism may not hold when opening the load floor door.

DIAGNOSIS:

1. Position both the left and right front seats in the full forward position.

2. Stow the left and right second row seats into the floor.

3. Close the load floor door.





4. Push the load floor door lock knob inward (locked position). Open and close the load floor door five times (Fig. 1).

5. Does the load floor door lock knob disengage?

a. Yes >> Perform the Repair Procedure.

b. No >> This bulletin does not apply. No further action is necessary.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:





1. On the left side of the vehicle, remove the four load floor door fastening nuts (Fig. 2).

2. Remove load floor door from the vehicle.

3. Using the appropriate part number from the Parts Required table above, position the new load floor door in the vehicle.

4. Install the four load floor door fastening nuts and torque to 8.5 N.m (75 in. lbs.).

5. Repeat Step # 1 through Step # 4 on the right side of the vehicle.
