Seal-Axle Shaft

SEAL-AXLE SHAFT
REMOVAL
REMOVAL - RIGHT AXLE SEAL





1. Remove right halfshaft assembly.
2. Using suitable screwdriver, remove axle seal (1).

REMOVAL - LEFT AXLE SEAL





NOTE: Inboard (Left) axle seal replacement requires removal and disassembly of the axle assembly.

1. Remove front axle assembly.
2. Drain axle lubricant by turning housing on its side and draining out of left output bore.
3. Remove differential cover (5) and differential (3). Remove and discard O-ring seal.
4. Using Tool 9664 and Slide Hammer C-637, remove left axle seal.

INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION - RIGHT AXLE SEAL





1. Using Tool C-4193-A (1), install new axle shaft seal.
2. Install right halfshaft assembly.

INSTALLATION - LEFT AXLE SEAL





1. Using Tool L-4507, install left (inboard) axle seal (2).
2. Install differential (3). Install cover (5) with new O-ring seal (4).
3. Install and torque cover-to-housing bolts to:
^ M10x40 - 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.)
^ M8x25 - 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.)





4. Install axle assembly into vehicle.
5. Fill axle with 00 ml (0.64 qts.) Mopar 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lubricant. Torque fill plug (1) to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
