B18E0-POWER LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH STUCKB18E0 - Power Liftgate Handle Switch Stuck:
WHEN MONITORED
Whenever the Power Liftgate Module is awake.
SET CONDITION
When the Power Liftgate Module senses the Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit active (1.5V to 3.5V) for longer than 15 seconds, this code will set.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
- (P30) Liftgate handle switch sense circuit short to ground
- (P30) Liftgate handle switch sense circuit short to the (Q901) logic ground circuit
- Liftgate handle switch shorted
- Power liftgate module
Diagnostic Test
1. DTC PRESENT
With the scan tool, record DTC's.
Erase DTC's
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
Operate the liftgate several times.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Q: Does the scan tool display B18E0-POWER LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH STUCK?
YES: Go To 2
NO: Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
2. LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SHORTED
Disconnect the Power Liftgate Latch connector.
Erase DTC's
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read DTC's.
Q: Does the scan tool display B18E0-POWER LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH STUCK?
YES: Go To 3
NO: Check the handle switch linkage for the cause of the sticking condition. If the linkage is okay, replace the Power Lift-gate Latch assembly. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
3. (P30) LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND?
Disconnect the Power Liftgate Module C2 connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit.
Q: Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?
YES: Repair the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit for a short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Go to 4
4. (P30) LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO (Q901) LOGIC GROUND?
Measure the resistance between the (Q901) Logic Ground circuit and the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit.
Q: Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?
YES: Repair the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit for a short to the (Q901) Logic Ground circuit. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Replace the Power Liftgate Module. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
