Rear HVAC Housing Installation






INSTALLATION
1. Position the rear HVAC housing into the vehicle.

2. Install the two bolts that secure the rear HVAC housing to the two brackets located on the rear inner quarter panel. Tighten the bolts to 3 Nm (27 in.lbs.).

3. Install the two nuts that secure the rear heater core tubes to the floor panel. Tighten the nuts to 3 Nm (27 in.lbs.).

4. Install the bolt that secures the rear heater core tubes to the rear inner quarter panel. Tighten the bolt to 3 Nm (27 in.lbs.).

5. Connect the body wire harness to the rear HVAC wire harness connector.

6. Install the rear ceiling distribution ducts. Service and Repair

7. Install the rear floor distribution duct. Service and Repair

8. Install the metal support strap to the rear quarter panel and floor. Tighten the fasteners securely.

9. Install the right D-pillar and rear quarter panel trim. Service and Repair

10. Raise and support the vehicle.

11. Lubricate new rubber O-ring seals with clean engine coolant and install them onto the rear heater core tube fittings which extend through the rear floor panel in front of the right rear wheel housing. Use only the specified O-rings as they are made of a special material designed for use with engine coolant.

12. Connect the underbody heater line quick connect fittings to the rear heater core tubes. Make sure the inserts are fully engaged to the quick connect fittings.

13. Remove the tape or plugs from underbody refrigerant line fittings and rear expansion valve ports.

14. Lubricate new rubber O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them onto the rear underbody extension line fittings. Use only the specified O-rings as they are made of a special material for the R-134a refrigerant system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.

15. Connect the underbody refrigerant extension lines and sealing plate to the rear A/C expansion valve.

16. Install the nut that secures the underbody refrigerant extension lines and sealing plate to the rear A/C expansion valve. Tighten the nut to 23 Nm (17 ft.lbs.).

17. Lower the vehicle.

18. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

19. If the heater core is being replaced, flush the cooling system. Service and Repair

20. Fill the engine cooling system.

21. Evacuate the refrigerant system.

22. Charge the refrigerant system.

23. Initiate the Actuator Calibration function using a scan tool. Adjustments
