THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION IS THE PREFERRED METHOD FOR FLASHING ECUs.

HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS AVAILABLE BY SELECTING "HELP" THEN "HELP CONTENTS" AT THE TOP OF THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW.

THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 10.01 OR HIGHER TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.

StarMOBILE DESKTOP CLIENT or StarSCAN MAY ALSO BE USED TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.

Flash: Driveability Improvements

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.

MODELS:

2007 (DR) Ram Truck

**2007 (HB) Durango**

**2007 (HG) Aspen**

**2007 (WK) Grand Cherokee**

**2007 (XK) Commander**

NOTE:
**This bulletin applies to:

^ **All HB/HG vehicles equipped with a 4.7L engine (sales code EVA or EVD)**

^ **WK/XK vehicles equipped with a 4.7L engine (sales code EVA). WK/XK vehicles equipped with a 4.7L engine (sales code EVA) with an Automatic Transmission and California Emissions (sales code NAE) are not covered by this Service Bulletin.**

^ All DR vehicles equipped with a 4.7L engine (sales code EVA or EVD) and a Manual Transmission

^ **All DR vehicles equipped with a 4.7L engine (sales code EVA or EVD) with an Automatic Transmission and Federal Emissions (sales code NAA). DR vehicles equipped with a 4.7L engine (sales code EVA or EVD) with an Automatic Transmission and California Emissions (sales code NAE) are not covered by this Service Bulletin.**

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The software contains the following improvements for all customers:

^ Improves the cold rough idle.

^ Corrects long cranks by improve the crank synchronization algorithm. For those customers who are operating on E85 these additional enhancements were made:

^ Hesitations and sags while coolant is below 10 °C (50 °F) with E85 fuel.

^ A MIL illumination for P0171 - Fuel System Monitor Lean Bank 1.

^ A MIL illumination for P0174 - Fuel System Monitor Lean Bank 2.

DIAGNOSIS:

Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH(TM)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs other then the ones listed above are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.

If the vehicle operator describes or the technician experiences the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.

NOTE:
If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.

1. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT, Refer To Group 8 - Electrical > Electronic Control Modules - Service Information > Module - Powertrain Control > Standard Procedures> PCM/ECM Programming - Gas. After PCM reprogramming, the following must be performed:

a. Clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the tech to clear them.

2. Type the necessary information on the "Authorized Modification Label" and attach it near the VECI label.
