Installation

INSTALLATION




1. Install outer hub bearing cup with Installer 9588 and a hammer.
2. Install inner hub bearing cup with Bearing Cup Installer 10099 and Universal Drive Handle C-4171.
3. Clean and thoroughly grease bearings with Multi-purpose grease.
4. Install inner wheel bearing (3).
5. Coat outer circumference of new seal (2) with Hylomar SQ 32 M sealant.

CAUTION: Do not coat seals rubberized sealing surfaces with sealant.

6. Install seal (2) into hub with Seal Installer 10098 and Universal Drive Handle C-4171.

NOTE: Seal ring should be flush with wheel hub or a maximum of 3 mm (0.12 in.) deep.

7. Coat contact surface of ABS sensor ring (1) with Hylomar SQ 32 M sealant.
8. Drive ABS sensor ring (1) in with Tone Ring Installer 10097 and Universal Drive Handle C-4171.
9. Install hub on axle tube.




10. Install outer hub (1) bearing (2).




11. Install thrust washer (2).

CAUTION: Thrust washer is designed for left or right side and are not interchangeable.




12. Install inner hub (1) nut (2).
13. Tighten inner hub nut with Hub Nut Socket 10095 to 300 Nm (221 ft. lbs.) while spinning the wheel hub constantly. Turn back inner nut and then tighten until it touches the thrust washer without play. Then tighten 1/8 turn.




14. Install locking plate (2).




15. Install outer hub (1) nut (2) and tighten with Hub Nut Socket 10095 to 250 Nm (184 ft. lbs.).
16. Install axle shaft.
17. Install brake caliper and support.
18. Adjust parking brakes.
