4.0L Engine With Service Update

4.0L ENGINE WITH SERVICE UPDATE

NOTE: This belt routing procedure must be used on 4.0L equipped vehicles recently serviced with the updated idler pulley design.

NOTE: Fan removed for clarity.

NOTE: Power steering belt removed for clarity.







1. Remove the combination coolant recovery/washer reservoir.

2. Insert a suitable square drive ratchet into the square hole on the belt tensioner arm (1).

3. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner (1) clockwise to release the belt tension.

CAUTION: Do not let the tensioner arm snap back to the freearm position, severe damage may occur to the tensioner.

4. Remove the accessory drive belt (5).
