B1A24-KEY NOT PROGRAMMED
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
Theory of Operation
When a key is inserted in the ignition switch and is turned to the Run/Start position, the Wireless Control Module (WCM) performs a self-test and re-synchronization routine. During this routine, the WCM interrogates the key, performing various validity and performance tests.
- When Monitored:
With the ignition switch on.
- Set Condition:
This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) sets if the WCM receives the default, blank key status from an ignition key. Once set, this DTC remains active until a valid, programmed key is inserted in the base station and rotated through the ON position.
KEY NOT PROGRAMMED
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Using a scan tool, attempt to program the key(s) into the WCM.
Was the programming of the key(s) successful?
Yes
- Programming of the key(s) was successful. Test complete.
- Perform the WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE (WCM) VERIFICATION TEST. . Wireless Control Module (WCM) Verification Test
No
- Replace the ignition key and attempt to program it into the WCM. If the DTC resets, replace and program the Wireless Control Module.NOTE: If this vehicle is equipped with a Steering Column Lock Module, it must be replaced along with the WCM.
- Perform the WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE (WCM) VERIFICATION TEST. . Wireless Control Module (WCM) Verification Test
