Hybrid Drive Coolant Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation

TPIM COOLING SYSTEM TEMPERATURE SENSOR

The TPIM cooling system temperature sensor (2) is used to sense the coolant temperature. The sensor (2) is located in the combination Transmission/TPIM cooler.

The coolant sensor is a two-wire Negative Thermal Coefficient (NTC) sensor. As the coolant temperature increases, resistance (voltage) in the sensor decreases. As the temperature decreases, resistance (voltage) in the sensor increases.
