Structural Dust Cover - Installation
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: The structural dust cover must be installed as described in the following steps. Failure to do so may cause severe damage to the cover.
1. Using a upward rotation, slide the structural dust cover into the vehicle.
2. Rotate the structural dust cover 180° up and over.
3. Rotate the structural dust cover 180° to the right.
4. While sliding the structural dust cover to the left (1), tilt the right side of the structural dust cover downward (2).
5. Position the structural dust cover into place and install the retaining bolts (1) hand tight.
CAUTION: The structural dust cover must be held tightly against both the engine and the transmission bell housing during the tightening sequence. Failure to do so may cause severe damage to the cover.
6. Tighten the structural dust cover-to-transmission bolts to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.).
7. Tighten the structural dust cover-to-engine block bolts to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.).
8. Retighten the structural dust cover-to-transmission bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
9. Retighten the structural dust cover-to-engine block bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
10. Lower the transmission onto the crossmember and remove the jack.
11. Install the transmission mount to crossmember retaining nuts (1) and tighten to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
12. Position the transmission fluid cooler lines (1) into the vehicle and connect the lines to the transmission cooler.
13. Connect the transmission fluid cooler lines (1) to the transmission fittings (2).
14. Connect the transmission fluid cooler lines to the retainer at the oil pan.
15. Using a new gasket, position the transmission auxiliary oil pump (2), install the retaining bolts (1) and tighten to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.).
16. Position the steering rack to the frame, install the bolts (1) and tighten bolts/nuts to 258 Nm (190 ft. lbs.).
17. Lower the vehicle.
18. Perform the HEV high voltage power up procedure Battery System - High Voltage Power Up
