Structural Dust Cover - Removal






REMOVAL

WARNING: On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury Service Precautions

1. Perform the HEV high voltage power down procedure Battery System - High Voltage Power Down
2. Raise and support the vehicle.




3. Remove the steering rack to frame mounting bolts (1) and lower the steering rack enough to gain clearance for the structural dust cover removal.





4. Remove the four transmission auxiliary oil pump bolts (1) and position the auxiliary oil pump (2) aside and discard the gasket (2).
5. Disconnect the transmission fluid cooler lines from the retainer at the oil pan.





6. Using the disconnect tool 9546, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler lines (1) from the transmission fittings (2).





7. Using the disconnect tool 8218, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler lines (1) from the transmission cooler and remove the transmission fluid cooler lines from the vehicle.





8. Remove the transmission mount to crossmember retaining nuts (1).
9. Using a suitable jack, lift the transmission enough to gain clearance for the structural dust cover removal.





10. Remove the structural dust cover retaining bolts (1).





11. Slide the structural dust cover to the right (1) and tilt one side of the cover upward and to the front (2).





12. Rotate the structural dust cover 180° to the left.





13. Rotate the structural dust cover 180° up and over.





14. Using a downward rotation, remove the structural dust cover from the vehicle.
