Engine Timing Cover(s) - Removal
REMOVAL
WARNING: On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury Service Precautions
1. Perform the high voltage power down procedure . Battery System - High Voltage Power Down
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Remove air cleaner assembly Air Cleaner Body - Removal.
4. Drain cooling system.
5. Remove water pump drive belt Serpentine Accessory Drive Belt - Removal.
6. Remove coolant bottle and washer bottle.
7. Remove upper radiator hose.
8. Disconnect both heater hoses (1,3) at timing cover.
9. Disconnect lower radiator hose at engine.
10. Remove crankshaft damper Vibration Damper - Removal.
11. Remove the dipstick support bolt.
12. Drain the engine oil.
13. Remove the oil pan and pick up tubeEngine Oil Pan - Removal.
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove water pump for timing cover removal.
14. Remove timing cover bolts and remove cover.
