A/C Compressor - Description

A/C COMPRESSOR - 5.7L HEV MODEL





Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) models are equipped with the Denso ES34 Electric Air Compressor (EAC) (1). This all-electric A/C compressor is a 34cc variable speed, scroll-type compressor, driven by a 3-phase Direct Current (DC) motor with integral high voltage connector (2) and low voltage connector (3). The ES34 A/C compressor is driven electrically and does not use a drive belt, which allows the passenger compartment to be cooled when the engine is off.

WARNING: Always follow vehicle service procedures to properly disconnect batteries and verify the absence of power prior to servicing the A/C compressor on an HEV model. Improper service procedures may result in possible serious or fatal injury (Refer to ELECTRICAL/BATTERY SYSTEM/BATTERY - STANDARD PROCEDURE - BATTERY DISCONNECT). Procedures

WARNING: The ES34 A/C compressor, DC motor and inverter module cannot be repaired or serviced separately and must be replaced as an assembly. There are no serviceable components located inside the ES34 A/C compressor. Failure to follow this warning may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

CAUTION: Polyalkylene Glycol (PAG) oil can contaminate the refrigerant system of a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and lead to A/C system damage and failure. If the refrigerant recovery/recycling and charging equipment was last used on a non-HEV model, flush the hoses of the equipment with a solvent approved by the equipment manufacturer before using the equipment on an HEV model, or use refrigerant recovery/recycling and charging equipment designated only for HEV models by your service facility. See the operating instructions supplied by the equipment manufacturer for proper use and care of the refrigerant recovery/recycling and charging equipment.

CAUTION: Always use ND-11 Polyester (POE) oil from Mopar(R) in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) models. Never use Polyalkylene Glycol (PAG) oil in an HEV model. See Refrigerant Oil for more information.
