SUBJECT:
MIL Illumination Due to POA2D
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting a body harness connector at the transmission and replacing a harness within the transmission.
MODELS:
2009 (HB) Duragno
2009 (HG) Aspen
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with 5.7L HEV Engine (Sales code HEH)
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Customers may experience intermittent MIL Illumination. No other symptoms will be noted or experienced. Further investigation by the technician may find DTC P0A2D - Drive Motor A Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit High.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTC's other than those listed above are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin. If the above symptom/condition is experienced, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
WARNING:
Be certain the procedure for the high voltage check-out has been performed and the service disconnect has been disconnected. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious or fatal injury.
1. Perform High Voltage Power Down Procedure. Refer to DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT > Service Info > 08 - Electrical > 8F - Engine Systems > Battery System > Standard Procedure > High Voltage Power Down.
2. Perform High Voltage Isolation Check Procedure. Refer to DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT > Service Info > 08 - Electrical > 8F - Engine Systems > Battery System > Standard Procedure > High Voltage Isolation Check.
3. Raise vehicle on a suitable hoist.
4. Disconnect and isolate the Low Voltage (12 Volt) battery negative cable:
a. Remove battery tray side mounting bolt to frame, on the front side of the tray and install the removed bolt in the threaded hole in the frame through the slotted hole in the battery tray. Snug the bolt then loosen 1 or 2 turns.
b. Remove battery tray side mounting bolt to frame, on the rear side of the tray and install the removed bolt in the threaded hole in the frame through the slotted hole in the battery tray. Snug the bolt then loosen 1 or 2 turns.
c. Remove the battery tray bottom mount bolt while supporting the battery tray and lower tray to gain access to battery cables.
5. Disconnect and Inspect the body side of the 24 pin connector for damage or terminals pushed out as follows:
a. Remove the heat shield at the right rear of transmission.
b. Remove both the black and tan connectors from the transmission.
6. Inspect the body side of the harness for damage to the terminals. Are female terminal(s) damaged in body side of the connector?
a. Yes >> Proceed to Step # 7.
b. No >> Proceed to Step # 9.
7. Replace damaged terminals in the body side of the connector using terminals supplied in the parts kit, p/n 68066717AA, and following wire splicing procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Wiring > 8W-01 Wiring Diagram Information > Wire > Standard Procedure > Wire Splicing.
8. Inspect the plastic connector body. Is Plastic connector body damaged to due improper pin alignment?
a. Yes >> Replace Connector body. Transfer one wire at a time from the old connector to the new connector. Ensure terminals snap fully into connector. Check by lightly pulling on each wire. Continue with Step # 9.
b. No >> Continue with Step # 9.
9. Remove the auxiliary pump mounting bolts. Several ounces of fluid may drip. Wrap the pump with a clean towel and tie out of the way. Do not hang by wiring.
NOTE:
In the following step, ensure drain pan is totally clean. Fluid is to be reused.
10. Replace transmission internal wiring harness. Refer to the detailed removal procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 21 - Transmission and Transfer Case > Automatic - EVI > WIRING HARNESS, Internal Transmission > Removal.
11. Install replacement harness, pn 68049835AB. Refer to the detailed installation procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 21 - Transmission and Transfer Case > Automatic - EVT > WIRING HARNESS, Internal Transmission > Installation.
12. Fill transmission to the proper level using DEXRON(R) VI, pn 68043742AA only. Refer to the detailed service information available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 21 - Transmission and Transfer Case > Automatic - EVT > FLUID > TRANSMISSION FILL and FLUID LEVEL CHECK.
CAUTION:
Do NOT use MS-9602 Fluid in the HEV transmission.
