Regenerative braking is used in place of the alternator to charge the 300V system. The regenerative braking system is used to recover kinetic energy into the High Voltage (HV) battery when the vehicle slows or brakes. The regenerative braking occurs almost anytime the driver uses the brakes or coasts at speeds above 6 MPH.
